Why you should be using an interdental brush

If you are wearing fixed braces, there are a lot more places for food to get trapped which can cause plaque to form and if left untreated, can lead to tooth decay. No one wants to end treatment with extra visits to their dentist so it’s really important that you do everything you can to keep your teeth and braces super clean throughout treatment.

As well as regularly brushing your teeth with fluoride toothpaste for at least two minutes each time, you should also think about using interdental brushes to get behind the wire, around the brackets and between your teeth.

These tiny brushes do an incredible job at helping you to maintain excellent oral heath during treatment. They come in different sizes (colour coded to make it easy to find the right one) and really make a huge difference when it comes to keeping your teeth and braces clean.

If you are not sure which ones to get or how to use them, just ask any of the team and we will be happy to show you. You can get them from us at reception and from any pharmacy or supermarket.
