You’re never too old for orthodontic treatment
Orthodontic treatment for adults is growing in popularity. Many adults are seeing the benefits in having straight teeth and now it’s not at all uncommon to see adults having their teeth straightened.
With many options including discreet clear brackets and Invisalign clear aligners, adult patients no longer need to be worried about having to wear a metal brace. But with so many options available adult patients do need to do their research and take advice from a dentist or specialist orthodontist. A specialist orthodontist such as Dr Robert Irvine, is a dentist who has undergone many years addtional training in orthodontics. A specialist orthodontist often just provides teeth straightening so they are highly experienced in this area of dentistry.
Treating adult patients doesn’t always take longer, it depends on what needs doing and how complex the treatment plan is. If you have worn braces before and your teeth have moved it can often be quite a quick process to straighten your teeth. During your consultation with us, we will let you know how long we think your treatment will take but in most cases, it takes around 18 months to straighten your teeth. Some of the faster options you may see advertised don’t always take into account your overall long-term oral health and concentrate on just straightening the teeth at the front. This is something that isn’t always in your best interest as underlying bite issues should be addressed to give you a stable result.
We have treated adult patients from their 20s to their 60s so it’s never too late to explore what a new smile can do for you.
