Let’s get started on your new smile!
If you have been referred to us by your dentist for NHS orthodontic treatment, we are looking forward to meeting you. Orthodontic treatment is provided by the NHS to those who most need it and before getting started, we need to look at your teeth to see if they qualify for treatment under the NHS. In many cases, they will, and in which case, we will take some detailed records and advise you what needs doing and when you need to start. For some of our patients this might be with a removable ‘functional’ brace to help align your top and bottom teeth and for others, it will be straight into fixed braces.
Fixed braces align your teeth really well but you need to look after your teeth and braces during treatment to get the best possible results
Removable braces play an important role in aligning your teeth. They must be worn as we have shown you and for the correct amount of time each day needed to achieve the best results.
Sometimes we need to use elastics to help teeth move and to align your bite. You will be finding these all around your house for years to come!
It is important that you wear your retainers at the end of treatment to give your teeth time to settle into their new position. If you can’t commit to wearing retainers, you might not be suitable for treatment

Orthodontic treatment takes a commitment from you as well as the team here. We want you to be part of the process and to help us to give you the best possible result. You can do this by turning up for all your appointments, following our advice about keeping your teeth and braces clean, avoiding eating anything too hard, sticky or chewy, cutting down on the number of fizzy drinks, and letting us know if something is worrying you.
