The first few weeks with Invisalign
Katie and Lynsey have now been wearing their Invisalign aligners for a few weeks now and wanted to share their experience with you. This is what they said.
“To be honest, we were quite apprehensive about starting but the team were great, really friendly and answered all our questions. We both have attachments which are tiny tooth coloured buttons added to some of our teeth to enable the aligner to grip better.
The aligners were tight at first and we were both worried about breaking them as we took them out and thought to ourselves, oh gosh, how am I going to do this, but it became much easier after the first few times. Dr Irvine showed us how to do it and after a couple of days, the aligners had loosened and were much easier to remove.
The funny thing is, we both never felt any pain or soreness. We were expecting to but it’s been really comfortable. It did feel a little strange at first but we soon got used to having Invisalign. We thought we sounded different when speaking when wearing our aligners but friends and colleagues said they couldn’t hear any difference.
One of the main benefits for us is that people do not know we are having our teeth straightened. If we hadn’t told them, they would never know. It’s also encouraged us to cut back on snacking as you need to take the aligners out before eating. We’ve also been drinking more water, something that’s a hidden health benefit.
If you want our advice to others, definitely to go for. It hasn’t been much upheaval, there’s been no pain and you quickly adapt. If you are self conscious about getting your teeth straightened, it’s much less obvious and people really can’t tell. Wearing Invisalign is now just part of our life”
Thank you Katie and Lynsey, we look forward to your next update.
